im looking at the dell xps 8500 or 8700, or something equivalent. I like all the stock features, but will eventually upgrade to an amd r9 270x graphics card. do the dell models support crossfire? also, is the motherboard such that I can install 2 graphics cards? idk much about PCIe slots. And finally, are these computers able to fit a new PSU and second grahics card and fans (if necessary) inside the case?

If you want to customise your machine to the extent you appear to want to why don't you buy a machine from a custom PC builder? I've got nothing at all against Dell's, Lenovo's or any of the big brands but they are not ideal for gaming machines in my opinion. They have adequate componants that are often unique to the machine. If you buy a custom build then you can basically put anything you want in it.

Ah, I am in the UK so I can't help with a recommendation sorry! I'm sure someone else can. I personally build my own machine because I want to know exactly what's in it but I appreciate that's not everyone's cup of tea. However if I was in your position and I wanted a machine done ready to go I would hunt down a well reviewed custom PC builder in your area and I would either get one custom built to my spec or pick one of their pre-configured models. You can pretty much guarantee it will have better componants than the Dell. You just need to do a bit of research on your best supplier. For what it's worth, if I was doing it in the UK I would probably by from the 3XS range offered by http://www.scan.co.uk/
