I bought the netgear range extender and it connects perfectly to the netgear wifi. The problem I have is that none of my devices will connect to the extender. I tried the password on the back of the extender but it will not connect. Can you help?
thanks

I would start fresh, pretend you are setting this up for the first time. (Assuming you already have found the best location for the extender, which is between your router and your problem area, but be mindful of any concrete/metal/fishtanks, etc, things that will block WiFi)

Plug in the extender, wait 1 minute for the Status LED to go green.

Enable WPS on the router by going to 192.168.0.1 and logging in with default info (if not changed), (I also would need your routers model # to tell you that info, but I am just finding this all off of google)

Somewhere in these router settings you will find a button that allows you to click for WiFi Protected Setup (if your router supports it - if not, we will cross that bridge when we come to...

I would check the manual/netgear website and check what lights should be displayed. Sometimes all you need to do is re-sync the devices. What kind of errors do you get when trying to connect to the extender?

Can you post the brand with the model number so I can have a look at the manual? There may be a password required to set up for the extenders network if it is supposed to have it's own, keep in mind, you can also look at the manual to double check, because if it requires a password, it most likely will not be the same as your regular WiFi's password.

Sounds good. I've set up the Netgear extenders a couple of times, only the ones that look like they have 2 arms on either side. Make sure you have WiFi Protected Setup enabled on your router, then see if you can re-sync the devices (remember they only have a 2 minute window for the re-syncing) and then see if you can connect, but let me know either way when you can.

No worries, I work for a cable company as well, so I'm assuming that the router they provided you with is a modem/router. They probably wouldn't be able to help you set that up. You would have to connect to your regular WiFi network and then enter 192.168.0.1 into your browser to access your router settings, I don't know specifically where the WPS setup/configuration would be, but it's probably under a "wireless" heading, and usually you just have to click the button that looks like the refresh symbol, and then run to your netgear and hit the sync button. When you get home if possible, post the router model # and I can take a look more specifically at how to access those settings.

Press the WPS button on the extender.

Within 2 minutes press the WPS button on router (info above)

The SSID for extender should now change to (yourSSID)_EXT (shares same password)

You should now be able to connect to it.

If you can't, or if you can't find WPS in your routers settings, let us know.
