Hey All,

I've recently started doing alot of lan party gaming and am finding it annoying/difficult to transport my current PC everywhere. I want to convert to a mitx pc to make it easier to take around. I've been looking and wanted to go for a CM Elite 130 if I could. However, after looking at the parts I have i wanted to know if I could get away with only buying a new Mobo and Case.

Currently I have:
i7-3770
Asrock z77 Extreme6
Gigabyte 670oc 4GB
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Corsair CX750M

As I'm not looking to SLI or OC I was looking into a P8H77I Mobo and CM Elite 130.

My biggest worries are my GPU and RAM. With my ram it is not low profile so I was thinking if it were possible to remove the heatsinks completely to accommodate a low CPU Fan.

Worst of all is that my GPU is a 3 slot GPU where its height is 62mm according to gigabyte website. Ive tried to measure myself and it looks to be closer to 45mm to 50mm.

I know mITX cases use 2 slot cards but I was wondering if i were to have removed the last bracket for the card making it 2 slots/cutting a hole in the case would it fit the GPU.

If nessessary, I am also willing to move up to a Bitfenix Prodigy case if I can be sure my GPU will fit.

Anyone come across these issues?

Thanks in advance.

Should work fine in any gaming mitx case. After further investigation though, it looks like none of the two cases you like (or probably any mitx case) will fit your GFX card, even with the proposed modifications. The top slot is the exhaust and there's graphic outputs on both of the other two slots. It might be possible to fit the card with extensive side panel and some frame modification but now we're in the territory of custom fabrication.

Thanks.

Is this still the case with the low amount of space in the CM 130 or could that become an overheating issue?

I was kind of scared you were going to say that.

I know this might be in another thread, but could you recommend a cheaper GPU that should be able to play most games on 1080p in medium to high settings?

You could try stepping up case size to the mATX form factor. Alot cheaper than buying a new gfx card. There's even a version of the prodigy that will work.

If what I read about the prodigy M being the same size as the m-ITX version is right then I LOVE YOU!

haha
Thanks heaps for the help! If I could change the best solution I would.
