Problem i have strugled with a few days - copmuter locking!

Hello Guys

6 months ago i banged my computer on top (I got mad) now it frezzes in games like BF4 and WoW. Now, first i tought it was my CPU-cooler, but i stress-tested my CPU's core uptil 100% i 2 minuts. No problem.

Then i tought it was my RAM, so i tested it with MemTest86 (Passed) - Cool. But then i testet it with ibt (intel burn test) and it FREEZED again.

I tested my computer with other RAM's (same RAM but from diff. computer) and it worked perfectly. But why did my RAM not fail with the Memtest86 then?

I can play games, but not for long. WoW i can play for a long time, but do i start BF4 it crashes almost right away.

So the big question, is it my RAM or CPU or maby a third thing?

I have bought new RAM, CPU-cooler and cabinet cooler, just to be sure (have not recived yet)

Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K CPU: 3,4 GhZ
RAM: 8 GB (2 pices of Kingston)

something is getting hot.......... cpu or gpu.

or you damaged the cpu internals by banging on the computer.............. rage slams.................. maybe you shouldn't play if it frustrates you so much?

also check for lose connections and see if all your hardware is properly seated in their slots.

you can try watching with core temp ( software ).......... the right way to do it is with thermal probes but you're talking money and a lot of work most people won't want to do.

I am checking my core temps and when my computer freezes the core is not hot (40-45 degrees). Thats way i tested with RAM's from another computer, and my computer not frezzed.

I will not give up on this. I have just build it for 2000 Dollers, from 1 yr ago, and have only used it for 3-4 month. Too soon to give up.

you can try pulling the current heatsink and fan, cleaning and reapplying thermal paste and reseating same............ or just make sure the pins are actually locked into place behind the board. one edge might not be held down right keeping the heatsink cocked.

When you say pins, do you mean CPU or RAM's?

the black pins on the four corners of the cpu heatsink. it's easier to install the heatsink when the board is out of the case so you can see that the pins fit through and lock into place............ ( in the clear/white outer part. ) underneath the board.

Where i am concerned is that when takeing out my RAM's and swifting them to other ones (same ones, but from diff. copmuter) - My copmuter did not freeze. So you dont think its my RAM?

What specific model of Kingston RAM do you have? What settings are you running on the RAM?

You can check RAM settings in the BIOS or you can use the free program CPU-Z to check from within Windows.

Swifty: No not mine. But i tryed another pair (same), and then my computer did not freeze under BF4, as it normally does. Set mine back in and wupti copmuter freezed under BF4 again.

I would have tried the "defective" ram in the computer you swiped the "test" dimms from. that would more or less give a conclusive answer..............

swifty_morgan; not a bad idea. But that would require hevy grafic game like 'BF4' - maby i could just run a test on he's computer? Maby the ibt test.
