Intel stock cooler question

Hi everybody
I tried to install my aftermarket cpu cooler so i took off e intel stock cooler but it was too hard so i am waiting for some help. In the meantime i want to use my computer. I was thinking can i put some thermal paste on the cpu, clean off the stock cpu cooler, and put it back on? Thanks

Yes. Clean both CPU and cooler. Then reapply thermal paste on the CPU.

What after market cooler did you get? If you want to reuse the stock cooler, just use some rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip (or you might have some thermal paste cleaner) and clean the cooler and the CPU, then apply a tiny dot a thermal paste (about the size of a grain of rice) in the middle of your CPU and put the cooler back on.
