Should I use my graphics card or integrated graphics?

I had a computer for the last 6 or 7 years. It started showing signs of dying soon so I decided to buy a new computer. The system is built and running very well:

i7 4770k
MSI GD65 Gaming
16GB Ares Ram 10-10-10-30

I don't ever game, but I bought this particular mb because it looked like it would serve my needs, was very good and had 8 SATA ports, which I needed.

I typically use my computer for regular work applications (ie. internet, email, etc). However, I often trancode movies and produce things in some sort of video editing software like Sony Vegas. Also I use photoshop.

I run Linux Mint 13 and as mentioned, I NEVER game. I run a VM with Windows in it.

Right now the system is just using the integrated graphics that is on the MSI motherboard.

I would like to know if I should use the graphics card from my old computer. It is an ATI Radeon X1650 (500mhz -- 256MB ram). Or, is it too old and not worth it?

Since it's Intel HD I believe you can't adjust the settings. Performance depends on the application being run.
