Is the cpu compatible with the motherboard in this combo.

Solution
Not sure if that would help, or if it would, how much of an under-clock is necessary to keep the TDP under 125W.

Personally, I'd contact TigerDirect about refunding your money for false advertisement. Provide them with the link to the CPU support list on MSI's website and note that the 8350 is not listed. If you Google FX-8350 and MSI 970A-G43, you should be able to find any number of questions, complaints, and issues concerning this combination and that it should never have been offered as a Combo Deal from Tiger Direct.

If you work with them, they'll probably work with you in either getting a refund or quickly going through the return process so you can get a system that works. I'd also check with them and ask around about refusing...

Looking around the web, it appears that there is an issue with that processor's TDP and that motherboard. The processor, under load, can actually reach 140W TDP which exceeds the 125W TDP limitation of the motherboard. This will cause your system to crash and possibly fry your motherboard, processor, or both.

I know it's a combo and they normally are compatible. I would say that the processor, *technically* is compatible, but due to the issues it can create, MSI does not support it. If you can, cancel your order.

It's already shipped so I can't cancel it, should I underclock the cpu until I can buy another motherboard.

According to this thread the board is supposed to throttle the cpu when it exceeds 125 watts, so would this help?
