wanting to upgrade from my gtx 260 to the gtx 760 was told my system might not be able to handle it and i would not get a increase in FPS.Is this true?

system specs
Phenom ii 940 OC
asus M3N72-D mobo
8 gigs corsair ram
corsair 750w PSU

Solution
Is not true. Buy that 760 and you will see a great improvement compared to 260 gtx.Any dual core can handle 760.You have a quad ,don't listed all the rumors.

Its not bout handling its about compatibility. Your mobo can run gtx 760. But if you look at your mobo specs http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M3N72D/#specifications. Its supports 2 x PCIe x16 @ dual x8 (Support PCIe 2.0 / 1.0 Architecture ) In which gtx 760 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-760/specifications is compatible with pice 3.0. You can get it run but u wont unlock the full power of the gtx 760 due to your mobo's age. :D

PCIE 3.0 Barely impacts anything at this stage. Dont worry, 260 to 760 is a massive upgrade. Yeah your system bottlenecks you but only a bit. Not enough to make it worth upgrading anything else really. Go for it!
