Hello all, sorry I know you get loads of these but i'm a bit stuck so any help would be appreciated.

1. What is your budget?
£600 or less

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
14"-15" but probably anything is fine

3. What screen resolution do you want?
720p or higher

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
desktop replacement

5. How much battery life do you need?
Not a major concern

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Yes, Medium or Low

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
Music (CD Ripping), document editing, browsing etc.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
Probably any amount is ok

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
Amazon or ebuyer have always been fine in the past but i'll happily take suggestions

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3 years or so probably

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Something thats can rip cd's and play dvds is fine

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Anything is fine

13. What country do you live in?
UK

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.

The only laptops that seem to meet my price requirements and look decent so far have been:

Asus X552CL: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-X552CL-15-6-inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00GJQ28M2/
Can't find any reviews but looks nice, has dvd drive and dedicated (if lowly) gpu that should play most games at least on min.

similarly Lenovo IdeaPad U410: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-IdeaPad-14-inch-Touchscreen-Ultrabook/dp/B00F93MB7I
which has similar specs and decent reviews (though reviews suggest the cpu under performs?)

either of those any good? any better suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

This laptop:

£600
15.6" Screen
Core i5 processor
Nvidia 740M graphics
720p display
Optical Drive for CD Ripping
750GB Hard Drive
Windows 8.1

While the laptops you were looking at are good, the 710M graphics card in both of them won't be able to play games very well at all. The 740M in the one I suggested is almost twice as powerful and should be able to play most games at medium or low settings, whereas the 710M will not.
