Hi there,

So I have narrowed down my options between the:

1. GTX 760 MSI Gaming for £190
2. R9 280X MSI Gaming for £230+

Is £40 Really worth the upgrade? The GTX 760 can almost match a 280X's stock speed when overclocked. + I believe 2gb to be enough for next gen?

Looking to get 40fps on High/Very High for the next 2 years.

What Kind of difference am I really going to be seeing between the two once both overclocked?

Thanks,

Specs:
i5 3570k @4.6Ghz
PZ77 (i think) Mobo
8GB DDR3 Corsair LP Ram
CX600M PSU (600w)

I have a GTX 760 and it is actually a very good card, atleast for me. I would get that and overclock with MSI afterburner which by the way is a great software. Though on the other hand 280x is also a fantastic choice. 280x is only 4 months newer so it doesn't matter in that aspect but it also seem to run louder and hotter. I would get 760 since more games are nvidia optimized (don't get me wrong, games go really well on AMD too!)
Choice is yours good luck! :)

With nvidia 700 series you get gpu boost 2.0 and i prefer nvidia because you get Geforce experience (update to latest drivers and optimizes the best value graphics for your card), evga precision x (the easiest OC and gpu monitoring program in my opinion) and the new g-sync.

Yes I realize this, a tad is just that, a tad. Comparing two GPUs from both sides, the 770 is a whole lot more comparable than a 760.

Prob water-cooling or some huge cooler, he could just be living outside in the snow.

true but your right for this question the 280X is the fastest but he should consider the gtx 770 if he's gaming at 1080p

Hi there, thanks for helping :)

Specs:
Mobo: Z77 Extreme 4
CPU: i5 3570K @4.6ghz
GPU: MSI Gaming 280X (not OC'd for now)
Ram: DDR3 8GB Corsair LP
PSU: Corsair CX600M 600w.

So i did manage to get the card work, But its weird. So I have a 5.1 Home theater system Onyo HDX22HDX I think hooked up to a plasma tv. When I connect my Graphics card to it via HDMI i get no picture. Just colored static. Now if i plug in my PC monitor via DVI suddenly I get picture on both screens (TV and monitor.) If i boot up my pc without having the DVI monitor plugged in the TV will get no picture, but once the PC is on i can then unplug the PC Monitor. Really annoying but works.

The problem I have now is that my PC isnt recognizing that I have 5.1 Keeps saying Stereo, when i click configure in audio settings it only lets me choose stereo.

When i was hooked up via my integrated graphics I had none of these problems. TV would show picture via HDMI without needing a DVI monitor plugged in and sound was picked up as 5.1

Really loving this card, runs games so amazingly but I really miss having surround sound.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you :)
