Cant see display

I purchased a new computer for Christmas and all is going well apart from one thing!
When i plug my HDMI cable into the graphics card i can see the display but when i plug it into the motherboard, no display is shown. I think this is stopping me from doing certain things!
Any help would be appreciated.
Spec -
Nvidia GTX 660
AMD FX 8350 4Ghz
64 Bit
8GB RAM
600W Power Supply

you have a FX 8350, it doesn't have a integrated graphic support. plug the monitor to the gtx 660

what certain things are you trying to do?

I just dont think its the right place, in the manual it stated "at first boost plug it into the graphics card" but now i just dont think i should always be in there? or sohuld it?

Ah okie, one other problem, my microphone isnt picking up my voice. Its a phone microphone with built-in headphones. All it picks up is if i tap it on hit it on the desk.
