Well I had just received my Nvidia gtx 600 and have just put it into my pc and installed the drivers correctly and I had already checked the compatibility for my motherboard before hand. I was able to play games such as minecraft and terraria games which don't use as much gfx but when I play battlefield 3 and farcry 3 (games which use a lot of gfx) my pc ran them for roughly 30 seconds and turned of I then spoke to a friend who advised me to remove my old gfx card drivers which I did and I tried to play farcry 3 again. it ran for longer but then did the same and my pc sparked at the back by the power supply and now my pc won't turn on... Please help!

in the very least, your psu could not handle your new video card and is now dead. will require a replacement, i suggest you buy a quality one.

at worst, the psu took some other components with it when it died. cpu is probably fine, gpu could be damaged, motherboard could be damaged.

you could either just buy the psu now and hope for the best or individually test each part.

condolences.

Your power supply probably blew up. Chances are you had an inadequate power supply in the first place, and could not satisfy the power requirements of your system with the 660 in it. Hopefully none of your components went with your power supply.
