So right now i have a evga gtx 580 and i've been convincing my dad to get me a gtx 780 ti ,but he thinks the 580 is still a solid card.So should i try to get the 780 ti or is the 580 still good?

the 580 is pretty outdated in my opinion, but it depends on what games you are gonna play. If you are thinking about playing some low/mid range games like world of warcraft, league of legends and minecraft then you shouldn't upgrade but if you want to play some high end games on full ultra like crysis 3, metro last light and bioshock infinite then you might have to upgrade it. You also need to make sure that your current components supports the gtx 780 ti.

Well i have win 7 ultimate and an i7 so i think that its bottlenecking my performance and i wanna play most new games on max to high settings at the resolution 0f 1900X1080 and/or 1900X1200.

i dont wanna go with a titan either because the 780 ti is 300 dollars cheaper and better than the titan. Right now istruggle to max cod ghosts and metro 2033 so i would think to keep my eyes on a 780

580 is an outdated card and will be even more outdated in upcoming games. And also, the 780 is one of the best cards out there, and you dont need it to play recent games. persuade him to get the 770 which is still one of the best cards out there. Dont get your dad to waste his money.

Edit - Sorry i thought you were talking about the 780ti, not the 780. My bad. My changed answer is,yes, you should upgrade.

Even a 1st Gen i7 920 can't bottleneck yout 580. However, there is always going to be one component bottlenecking the other.
