Whats the difference bettween 1x8GB and 2x4GB? Will one run games faster?

2x4gb is better than 1 8gb ram stick, as dual channel is faster than single channel. Simple.

A 2 x 4 setup is better. Less stress on the memory controller and Dual Channel increases overall performance 4%-7%

If you are planning to add another 8 GB stick to make it 16 GB, 1x8 will be ideal. If not, 2x4 will be better. You will get faster ram transfer speed with dual channel.
