Hi

You do not say what operating system you have

if Windows OS Disk Cleanup whill get a lot of space back

see
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/delete-files...

there is similar info for Disk Cleanup on XP (vista is similar to 7)
If say you started with Windows 7 then ran service pack 1 there would be a backup of old C:\Windows & c:\Program Files in \Winows.old

I am on Windows 7 SP1 on a 70GiB drive with 22GiB free because all my user data is on a seperate hard disk

There are a few programs which can tell you where the largest folders & files are
spacesniffer
windirstat

I have windows, but when I used the disk cleanup, I only found 500mb of cleanable data. I also used windirstat and found that I had a lot of stuff in the winsxs file. I tried using the task schedule program that was on the windows website, but it didn't work. How do I get rid of stuff in the winsxs file?

One last question, with windirstat, it also only found around 100 gb of data used. What happened to the other 156gb? As a sidenote, I have a lenovo thinkpad t410 that is somewhat old but has a ssd in it. Is there a limitation because of that?

Hi

are you talking about free space on C: only ?

when you go into disk management how many partitions do you see ?

assuming vista or latter I expect a small partition for boot manager or recovery partition then one or more partitions C: (optionally D: )

Did you install the SSD & Windows your self ?
or did your Lenovo come with the SSD & Windows pre installed ?

I did install the ssd myself, but I had the same problem with my previous hdd. Also, I have 2 partitions, my c drive with 221gb, and recovery drive with 9 gb, and I checked c drive with windirstat. The numbers don't add up on my computer.( also about 20gb of my ssd drive aren't shown in the partitioning. Is it because file system problems?)
