I recently just built my own computer for gaming and I have been going nuts with problems.

These are my specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: Asus p8z77-v lk
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB Ram (1 stick)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Powersupply: Corsair TX 650W

Now these are my problems:

Computer randomly hangs up for 2-5 seconds with a sound loop, then resumes to normal.
Computer locks up entirely and requires a hard boot.
When started, after blue "Welcome!" screen, it sits at black and requires a hard boot.

The 2 previous problems ONLY happen when I am browsing Google Chrome and never when I am actually playing a game.

When I view the event viewer, this is the only thing I feel is noteworthy:

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
hlnfd"

I have tried resinstalling the latest drivers, moving my GPU into a different slot and moving my RAM into a new slot to no avail.

I know this topic is old, but I tried the solution you offered and it worked... until now! I was simply watching a Youtube video and stepped away for all but five minutes, and returned to a computer freeze.

I could move my cursor and the number pad light came on and off for a few seconds, then everything froze up completely.

Do you hav realtek by any chance? you can update that here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx... I know that is also an issue that has caused chrome to freeze stuff up
Another thing you could try is if you are running any plug-ins go in and disable all of them and then see if the problem is still accruing

Another download link to the realtek is http://www.realtek.com.tw/ just find it under downloads
