Hello everyone ! Today I finally bought a new PC. I installed Assassins's Creed 4 Black Flag and Skyrim. Everytime I start AC or Skyrim it's a bit laggy. (20-25fps) I don't know what's the problem. Graphic card is new. I put it inside on my own, I'm not sure but I could do something wrong when installing card so could that be problem ? Or it's just something like powersaving mode in Catalyst ? I don't know what could be problem... And card is very noisy..

My PC : MB : ASUS P8B75
CPU : i3 3220, 3.3Ghz
GPU : ...
RAM : 8GB
22 inch full hd screen..

Almost forgot, I'm using VGA to DVI reduction.. It might be with that.. Idk, but thanks even for reading this.

VGA = analogue (not very good) DVI = digital (very good).
Make sure you have the latest motherboard bios updates and have installed the latest drivers for the GPU.

the adapter won't do anything to your fps, but yeah, gpu drivers are very important, as well as having an adequate power supply

Sorry guys, I forgot. I've got Seasonic S600 (600W) PSU. Right now card is extremely noisy and very hot. I'm not sure what should I do.. I don't want damage my new PC because of my stupidity when connecting to PCI-E and motherboard.. How can I find out if I did everything right ? I used this vid to help me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9x097QRXeA

the 270x with the stock cooler is always going to be noisy and kinda hot. It's just how they are made. I'm pretty sure they will run safely at up to 94 degrees, but the fan on those can get pretty loud. Your psu is fine, nothing wrong with that model for what you are using it for

Basically if the card is working at all, you have physically installed it correctly lol

So, ok. Card is installed correctly. But then what could cause frame drops ? Yesterday I played Skyrim on Intel HD Graphics 2500 (on actual computer without gpu) and it was perfectly smooth on medium settings. But even when I put everything (now) on low with FHD resolution it run just around 20-25 fps

Well actually, it sounds like your computer may be using the integrated graphics instead of the gpu then. Try going into the nvidia control panel BUT DO NOT DISABLE THE INTEGRATED! but do try setting the gpu as the default graphics adapter

But this is AMD card. So I can't acces NVIDIA control panel then.

Haha lol sorry i am a total fool for that suggestion, but amd should have a similar control panel for their graphics processors

Its ok. I have installed Catalyst for AMD (something like Control Panel for Nvidia) But I cant find anything like switch to r9 card..

You have to disable the integrated card in Bios: wikihow link for it to work.

Also, make sure you're plugged into the video card connectors and not the motherboard ones.

DO NOT DISABLE THE INTEGRATED ONE. so many people have done this wrong. just set it to default to the gpu you bought, and to use it for 3d applications. disabling the integrated gpu can basically black screen you if you don't have the new gpu up and working

I plugged all connectors in graphic card ports.. Im not that stupid. Now, card is very quiet and more powerful in games.. But still laggy at all

the 270x will not max out games like crysis 3 and bf 4 with full antialiasing just so you know. if you are getting better performance than before, now go and make sure you have up to date drivers

I'm not sure what exactly happened but everything's ok right now. Card have 29 C in iddle and around 40 when playing games. I just maxed Witcher 2.. Same with Skyrim and GTA IV.. Just AC BF is soo laggy

AC is laggy on amd cards to begin with, and BF4 is poorly optimized at the moment

You are better off using Digital witch would be HDMI or DVI hdmi is basically same as HDMI but kinda smaller in size.

SO firstly, make sure that you use a DVI or HDMI cord for the videocard. Make sure your screen is 2ms aswell.
Then update your drivers, and do an error check using the device manager. Let us know how you go.

Another thing to keep in mind is that my Gigabyte R9 270X won't run AC black flags in Ultra 1080p at anything above 25fps. Not sure about skyrim, I would assume it would max it in 1080p and run at 40~fps.

Thanks, Let us know how you go.

Guys (sandis1123 and Bakz424) This thread was solved two months ago. I don't think the OP checks here anymore.

Good advice though!
