Can I make my two old Dell PCs into one?

I have a Dell Dimension E310 and a Dell XPS 410. I want to use the harddrive of the first PC instead of the one in the second PC. Is that possible and how?

Assuming both hard drives are either IDE or SATA, it's certainly possible, but you would likely have to re-install the operating system and all of the programs.

I only have the installation cd for the dimension desktop, which I installed its hdd into the XPS one. I keep getting the blue screen when I turn it on! If you please guide me step by step. Thanks.
