Thumb drive won't play video

I have transferred videos from my terabyte to my laptop.
Copied the videos to my thumb drive and they will not play.
The thumb drive lists the videos but won't play them on my computer or through my media player to the tv. they are MPV, AVI and MP4 files so it is not only specific but none.
I have 2 thumb drives 256 gb each and one is formatted exFAT and the other NTFS and neither work

I'm having the same problem with my 256GB flash drive (FAT32), whenever I transfer or copy video files, they won't play, Error 0x00d36c4 on Window 8. They will play on other flash drives, but not this one. The computer recognizes the flash drive and I have copied PDF files to it and they work ok, so I don't think it is corrupted. Does anyone have any ideas? Reformatting maybe? Cheers!
