I know this question has been beat to death, but i've got to get my own response from people, as googling and researching all this stuff gives me such varying answers.

Question: What motherboard is my best choice to get the most (or full) potential out of my new FX 8320?

The board i ordered with the 8320 is: MSI 970A-G46 AM3+, but after reading several reviews, it apparently can't handle overclocking the cpu at all (it goes over 125w that the board can't handle or something).

I'm somewhat of a noob at this stuff, so i need help from someone who knows the technicalities and physical aspects of this stuff (voltages and whatnot). The board i've been looking at replacing mine with is the ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+, but i've read bad reviews for that combo as well.

Please recommend me a board that is under $100 that can handle unleashing the power of the 8320 :D

To OC the 8 core FX's well you really want to get yourself a 990FX (or a 990X) board.

Most 970 boards will most likely give you the same results, (i could be wrong but just going my experience with an Asrock 970 Extreme4 board).

I would recommend either of these board at the very least for OC'ing the 8320

Yes they are over your budget but it's what you need if you really want to OC that cpu.

I may end up getting that ASUS M5A99X for $135.. but kinda doubtful, i understand it is certainly a challenge getting the best stuff for under $100 lol.

I don't expect to be pushing these components to their limits exactly, I just want to get the best performance possible without harming anything.
IF I decide to keep the MSI 970A-G46, and crank it up from 3.5 to 4.0ghz (the standard oc here), will i encounter problems still? One of the threads i saw said they were crashing whenever the cpu hit 99% or 100% because the 125w cpu limit was exceeded. I'm pretty sure cpu usage goes up to 100% every now and then randomly (even when its just for one second or less). Would this be a serious problem? Will this combo be stable if oc'd to 4.0ghz?

I own the same gigabyte. It's extremely overclockable. I've overclocked my FX 8350 on this board to 5 ghz stable.
