So I've had a single R9 270X for a little bit and i recently got a 2nd 270x. I turned off my computer, plugged in the new card, and when i turned it on, i enabled crossfire, and tried it out. I saw no frame boost. I opened up GPU-z and for my second card it saw the bus width as 32-bit instead of 256. The bandwidth is also 22.4 GBs instead of 179.2GBs. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, swapping cards, just using the new card itself to see if it is corrupt. Nothing seems to work, what do I do?

card is in idle mode, try seeing what GPU-z reads whilst in a game, also make sure crossfire bridge is enabled correctly, which i assume it is because you were able to enable crossfire

2nd card will not boot up untill needed, im pretty sure this is what your seeing

Also there are MANY games that do not benefit at ALL or even lose performance with 2x cards, So untill we know what games you have available to test, we can't help much with the NO framerate improvement issue

Ok so i tried that and it still is reading it 32-bit and low bus. Also i have already applied the bridge, that has been on. I have been testing it on far cry 3 and batman arkham origins. I believe Far cry 3 is AMD based and origins is nvidia based. My frame rate with the single card in FC3 is 35 and in Origins, 65. There's no increase in frame rate on either game so far.

Whats your CPU, PSU ?

Your almost deffinately going to see one of your cards running at NOTHING unless you have a slave monitor, If you alt tab to see GPU-z in a game the card will power down instantly, As no more then 1 card is needed....

I have an AMD FX4170 and a 750W power supply. I also have a small 2nd monitor with GPU-z up and i still saw no difference.

Ok can you go into farcry and see if FPS changes when settings are set to LOW/HIGH, also disable CrossFirex and see if your FPS improves

Huh, thats interesting. Here were my results

cfx
High: 38
Low: 60

cfx disabled

High: 20
Low: 40

That's weird because when I used to play far cry with just the single card i was getting about 35 -38. Let me try some other games.

farcry is probably the most optimized game you have right now, unless its a cracked version, can you run it whilst crossfire enabled and see what happens when you put settings to dead LOW with no AA, and then ULTRA with AA, id like to see the difference, also GPU-z could be old or bugged

Farcry has MANY graphics options, be sure to turn AA off / up when doing this, im pretty sure it is in a different page to the low-ultra presets

Mkay yea i think everything is working, just not as much as a boost as hoped for. And haha yes i have a legal version of far cry. Batman Arkham Origins seems to be about 20 frames faster, but it is hard to tell.
