Can a WiFi range extender make Wireless connection faster?

i currently has a 75 mbps download speed plan with verizon fios. and my computer is a bit far from the router. i only get from 5-25 mbps of the full speed, if i were to get a wifi range extender, would my speed increase? when i use a computer connected through ethernet, i get a good 60 mbps.

i want to get at least 30 mbps through wireless , how can i come about doing this? a new router from verizon fios may be an answer

On some routers there is an option similar to transmit power.
Make sure it's set to it's highest if you want the farthest range.
You can also buy a new router with a more powerful antenna.
Or buy a new router with a wireless signal that is more recent, such as wireless-ac or wireless-n
What kind of wireless are you using now? Wireless-B Wireless-G Wireless-N Wireless-AC?

how can i tell what wireless i am using? and i am using a Verizon router if that helps.
