So I recently bought a XFX R9 270X and a Thermaltake 750W Smart Series 80 Plus Bronze and when I installed the card it would power up and the fans would spin but the display would be nothing but a black screen while the monitor said "no signal". The monitor uses a DVI-VGA to function, also when I put the old HD 7570 back in it works fine.

PC Specs: Gigabyte gigabyte m3970am-hp (angelica2) with AMD FX 8350 Eight Core CPU
8GB Kingston HP RAM
Thermaltake 750W Smart Series 80 Plus Bronze.

Is your motherboard BIOS up to date? Are the PCIE power connectors properly seated?

I do believe that the PCIE connectors were properly seated and I cannot find the correct BIOS update but it says last updated on the 3rd of this month. One this that I notice is that I have two sets of PCIE connectors and the manual says two separate connectors so should I use one from each or both from one.

You should have four 6+2 PCIE power connectors on that PSU. If there are two 6+2's on the same rail then, yeah try one from each rail (shouldn't have to do that and if that solves the problem might want to think about returning the PSU and getting one from a higher quality manufacturer)
When you say can't find the correct bios update, do you mean one from the Gigabyte site or the one that's on your board now (if the latter use CPUZ, it will tell you under the "mainboard" tab)

I also have this problem, but when i used hdmi output from my r9 270 to my 23" monitor it works.
Only when i try to use dvi to vga adapter, is when it doesn't work. I guess it's vga to dvi issue...

Its something to do with windows 8 and UEFI. I fixed this but now im getting an error code which is "the instruction at 0x9cf6ba7d referenced memory at 0x000000010. The memory could not be written. click ok to terminate the program"

Try updating your motherboard bios. Also in the future you should start your own thread with your question (doing this is called thread hijacking ;)  )

I had the exact same problem when I first bought my card, the HDMI/DVID ports were faulty and I RMA'd it.
