I wanted to connect to Ethernet but when I plugged in the Ethernet Cable into my computer it still said that it was not plugged in when I viewed my networks in Control Panel. My older brother is connected to Ethernet in the same house as me and they are plugged in all the time. I on the other hand do not want to walk all the way to the office upstairs to connect to Ethernet when I am downstairs or in my room. I can't even make the Network work with the cable plugged in let alone wireless. Can someone tell me why the Ethernet isn't showing up and how to make it wireless so I don't have to walk around the house. It says Network Cable Unplugged (Even when it IS plugged in) and below Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and I have Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC AMD A4-3300M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics1.90 GHz (My brother has a different computer)

If it says network cable unplugged it could be a couple of things. Either the network cable is bad, this is the easiest option, as you can try another cable to test that theory. It could also be the port on the network card you have, or it could be an issue with the card itself, so make sure you look in device manager to see if there are any yellow caution signs where your driver is, if so, try updating your drivers. If none of the above work, you may have to get a new network card.
