Hello out there! I am looking to upgrade my system, as it is well overdue. I have been out of the loop of computer tech for a few years, and now that I have popped back in it feels like I'm reading a new language. My current specs are as follows:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1070T (I've seen reviews stating this is terrible for gaming )
RAM: 12GB DDR3 @ 535MHz (7-7-7-20)
Mobo: GA-890FXA-UD5 Socket M2
GPU: 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series (and this is why it's well overdue)
I am looking to upgrade to the GTX 780ti overclocked, or the Radeon equivalent, but I am not sure what I need to upgrade the other components to to prevent a bottleneck, but without wasting money unnecessarily. I am not worried about changing my monitor or speakers out currently, nor my power supply which is a 1000W. Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
An additional concern of mine is if I should look into one of the higher end routers/cable modems. I use my machine primarily for gaming (many online), but my wife uses other machines in the house for streaming HD videos. Would this be necessary? I may eventually turn this into a steam machine/home entertainment center of sorts, though I am not sure at this time.
