Question Regarding Durability of Motherboard Sizes/Forms

Just something I've been pondering and wanted to ask the experts here on Toms Hardware since you guys would know and could maybe share some experiences owning different motherboards of varying forms/sizes.

My question is I'm wondering if I decide one day to get a MicroATX build going in the near future for my brother would a MicroATX motherboard be as durable and reliable as a normal ATX form factor. (Last 3 + years) I know their are issues with all motherboards and you can always get some that are bad etc.. But for this sake lets say hypothetically you have two good motherboards as an example:

1-Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX Form Factor (Which I own and haven't had any issues yet...few months in)
2-Asus Maximus VI Gene MicroATX Form Factor (My brother has been eyeing this motherboard but wanted to find out if it would be as durable and last him just as long as a ATX motherboard)

Would the Gene last as long as the Hero or would the Gene being smaller mean its more likely to fail compared to the Hero? My brother has very limited space in his room so a MicroATX build would be most likely what he would get when he decides to do so. Do ATX motherboards genuinely last longer because of their size and amount of quality components on the PCB compared to a MicroATX motherboard or does size really not matter in this situation. Thanks :-}

Size isn't a big a factor as brand or model, the parts are virtually identical. Unless your planning on overclocking any decent motherboard attached to a decent power supply will last you a good long time.

So using a MicroATX board instead of a ATX board will last me just as long. My brother wants to run the Maximus VI Gene with a i5 4670k probably with a small modest overclock of 4.0 GhZ in a Obsidian 350d with a Asus DirectCU II r9 290x when those become available with a Corsair AX760 Platinum Power Supply. Would that last him a long time because he doesn't plan on changing out parts everytime something new comes out as he's dead set on that particular set-up due to his room situation.
