Hello all,

I recently acquired an SSD. I'm using it on an old motherboard with Sata 2 ports. The power cable is fine, but it did not come with its own data cable to plug into the motherboard. I'm pretty clueless about what type of cables are what, so I just got a sata data cable thinking any of them would be fine. It must have been the wrong one since it doesn't fit into my SSD.

What type of data cable do I need? Given that my motherboard is fairly old and I will be using a sata II port, will that change what I need?

I think you have the wrong cable. Sata 3 is backwards compatible to sata 2 so the plugs should be the same.

Yes. That should work.
