I have a feeling that something is going on with my graphics card or my pc altogether. I recently bought a XFX R9 280x and I feel it is not performing as well as it should. In Battlefield 4 I've seen people with the same graphics card and cpu getting 60+ fps on ultra on all maps. But I get 40-50 fps on ultra on some maps, and when I turn down the graphics it remains at the same fps. So far most other games seem to performing ok, not great but ok.

My Rig:

Gpu: XFX R9 280x 3gb

Cpu: Intel i5 3470

Mobo: Asrock Z77 Pro4 M

Ram: 8 gb G Skill

Psu: Thermaltake Smart 550w

Hard drive: Seagate barracuda 1tb

Please Help

Either it has something to do with resolution, or you're confusing the card with something more powerful. BF4 is a demanding game, and from benchmark results across the internet, 40-50fps on ultra at around 1080p is consistent with your card. If someone else is using the same card to achieve more frames, it is either because they are running at a considerably lower resolution (less than 1650x1050) or they have overclocked the card roughly 25%.

If these frames rates are unacceptable, the easiest solution will likely be to lower the settings slightly. It's likely to look better than lowering the resolution, and significant overclocks will reduce the life of your card and void your warranty.

But I am getting like 40-50 fps on high settings aswell, doesn't matter what the graphic settings are everytime there is a lot of sunlight or a lot of objects my fps drops dramatically.

I have the same i5 3470 and a 280x from sapphire and im getting the same fucking problem
I have seen many videos and benchmarks and my rig doesnt supposed to perform like that HELPP
Im getting like 40 frames on bf4 and 20 frames on crysis 3
The difference is that i have 16 gigs of ram and a 600w psu
Do you think it have something wrong with the psu? Because they said 750w os recommended for that gpu

this might help, because what seems to be going on is a cpu bottleneck, this may take some strain off the cpu. Multiplayer maps with lots of players are extremely cpu demanding. The 8 core amd does will in this scenario (about the only game it does better than i5's), or i7's, or overclocked i5's.
