I am thinking of building this pc for gaming and for some video editing.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2rcbo

I have tried to leave the pc so it's easily upgradable as I only have a £400 ($650) budget.

Will this system work well in games and will I be able to play new games at medium/high settings easily?

Are there any recommendations?

Cheers

it is my recommendation
2x4GB ram is a must
you can downgrade the GPU to 7770GHZ if you need to stay under 400

I will be upgrading my ram to 2x4gb when I have some more money but for now will it still run games well? Is the HD 7770 better for the money compared to the GPU I have picked?

Yes 4GB will do but it's really on the brink.. make sure to close programs like browsers before you start up games. I'm using 4GB as well with GTX 560-Ti and it's enough for modded skyrim, but i'm gaming at 1280x1024.
