Hey everyone

as the title says which one do u think is better?

Am3+ , FM1 or FM2 cpu ??? which 1 in the future we can upgrade easily? what is the difference between their watts? what is the effect of it? which serie runs cooler?

as I know FM series have GPU ? Can we use it with VGA to make VGAs performance better?

I wanna 2 upgrade my pc and wanna buy motherboard and cpu but dont know which 1 is better?

my vga is 630 gigabyte 2gb .
power thermaltake 630 watt
cpu cooler deepcool gammaxx 300
HDD seagate baracuda 1Tb 64 mb buffer 7200 rpm
all of these are newly bought.

I rarely play game but wanna make my pc run faster and use it at least 4 some years,

my current cpu is AMD athlon 64 3800+
ram ddr2 bus 800 kingstone
Motherboard ASUS M2NE

not wanna spend more than 250 $

As you do not game and already have a ok GPU and PSU a FM3 build with a FX processor would make the most sense.

Avoid the lower end motherboards and FX chips tho, try and get something closeto this:

FX6300

Gigabyte 970A D3P

8GB DDR3 Ram

For a rough idea anyway, tad over budget but worth it imo if you are keeping the system years.

I really recommend the fx socket the reason i would not go with FM1 is because it is outdated and no new cpu's are really made for it. FM2 is more oriented at internet browsing and word processing with hdmi output. I personally have an fm2 and it is bottlenecking my gpu at the moment i really don't recommend it . I built a second system for my friend same gpu as me but with a fx 8350 instead of my a10 6800k and it runs a lot better. This is a recommendation based on real life situations.
Hoped this helped :D

You mean AM3 right? :p

Socket FM1 is dead. Socket FM2 is basically dead as well and will be replaced by socket FM2+; physically the same as FM2, but electrically different. The upcoming release of AMD's 4th generation APU known as Kaveri (January 14, 2014??) will only work in socket FM2+ motherboards.

The highest performance AMD processor will still be the FX series for socket AM3+. The problem is the future of socket AM3+ is unknown. In mid / late 2012 AMD stated they will support socket AM3+ into 2015. Before AMD really hit hard financial times it was assumed that their next generation architecture called Steamroller will be coming out for socket AM3+ as the 3rd generation FX CPU series. Now Steamroller will only be released in Kaveri APUs for certain.

The most recent 2014 AMD roadmap shows that current generation Piledriver FX CPUs (released in late 2012) will continue to sell through the end of 2014. At this rate, they will likely be sold until 2015 and sometime in 2015 AMD will simply retire socket AM3+. May guess is that after AMD ceases production of the Piledriver FX CPUs they will stop producing CPUs for the consumer market and only focus on producing APUs. After all, the FX CPUs are only sold in desktops while the APUs are sold for both desktops and laptops.

If AMD can develop a very low power consumption APU that has good performance, then they have a chance in the tablet market. AMD released the Temash / Kabini APU back in May 2013 that was targeted tablet manufacturers, but they failed to win any sales contracts for tablets. At least based on my research.

My vote is AM3+ socket, it currently supports AMD's most powerful CPUs.........

So, buy the most powerful CPU you can afford now, that should make it usable for a longer period of time (i.e. it won't be consider slow & therefore obsolete as soon)

hey if u check the specifications of ur cpu u will see it is Quad core with 4.1 ghz but ur friends cpu fx 8350 is Eight cores with 4 ghz

As u see there is a big differance between Quad and Eight cores.

is it possible 2 use FM2 cpus gpu along side with my VGA to make my graphic better for some games?

there are some motherboards that support FM2+ too.

should I buy an AM3+ even though we know sometime in 2015 AMD will simply retire socket AM3+. or the upcoming release of AMD's 4th generation APU known as Kaveri (January 14, 2014??) will only work in socket FM2+.

I know that is why i am reccomending AM3+ over FM2
