Hi,
In my new budget gaming rig I am torn between getting the Intel i5 4440 and spending extra to get the i5 4670k?

Would anyone happen to have any experience with the CPU's and is it worth spending the extra.

Also, will I be required to change the motherboard and potentially the power supply in order to accomodate the more powerfull processor?

It will mainly be running FPS games at high and ultra settings.

If you want to overlock in the future then you can opt for the 4670k. But remember you will need a Zxx series motherboard for that.

My personal recommendation is if you want this rig solely for gaming then get the 4440 and spend the extra bucks on getting a better gpu. You will see much better results that way.

If you ever plan to OC, you should get the 4670k. If not, go with the 4670 or even the 4570, as they will practically get you the exact same performance. You only need a "K" series CPU if you're going to OC.

Chances are in not going to overclock (No idea how in the first place), what better GPU would you suggest?

Requirements for power supply and motherboard are exactly the same at stock speeds.
You would need a Z87 motherboard to actually take advantage of the overclocking capability of the K series CPU.
Core i5 4570 is a worthwhile upgrade over the 4440. The 4670K is not good value at stock speeds.

I am talking about the gpu.....do you want me to suggest a whole new build at that budget??

IF your talking about $1000 (USD) you can buy ANY single GPU...
- I'd of course go for the king-of-the-hill, GTX 780Ti......

IF that $1000 was a full system budget, you should be in the $200 to $250 range on your GPU....
- GTX 760 or AMD 270X would be my choices....

How about this one then.
It has a full size ATX motherboard and a much faster gpu than your build.
Note that I removed the CPU cooler since you would be unable to overclock the cpu anyways.

It's a good build, but I think you have forgotten the power supply.
Good call on removing the arctic cooler. It is no better than than the stock cooler.

How about this one. Its a bit expensive but I always recommend seasonic since they have the best products and best after sales. Its always better to get one good PSU and then you can use it in your future builds as well.
