Need help trying to connect Toshiba laptop (using windows vista) to wifi. Wifi router is fine as all other computers and phones are able to be connected.

When trying to connect it does it on its own without asking for a password. After a few seconds it says "Press configuration button on the access point before continuing" If I click on the "I want to enter the network key or passphrase instead" And enter the password it takes time to attempt it then says "connecting taking longer than usual" Finally it will say "Windows cannot connect to [network I wanted]

Diagnosing problem doesn't do anything

About 10 foot away. The laptop connects fine to other routers (in other houses) but not this one. Other computers are connected to the router fine so it cannot be a router problem. There is nothing in between the router and the laptop. The signal strength is strong. I can see the wifi listed but have troubles accessing it.

It sounds like the WPS (wifi protected service) is enabled on the router, asking for the pin #. I would recommend turning that off in the router menu, then attempt to connect to the network again using your WPA2 passphrase.

Agreed. The WPS system would seem to be the problem.

And in any case, that should be disabled. WPS is a badly broken system.

Ok, thank you. Sorry to sound an idiot, but how do I turn it off?
