I need a network card for my new computer.

I need a network adapter for my new custom built PC. So my router is a simple family router.
I have a terrible line to, but will upgrade in the next year to around a 20MB line. My current line is 3MB So please help me.

Your new custom built computer should already have an Ethernet port integrated into the motherboard. If that's not working, send the motherboard back for repairs/replacement.

Network adapter is where you connect an Ethernet cable to your computer for networking. A WIFI adapter is a card you need to install or a USB device you plug in.

If you want a USB adapter, I'd probably go with this TP Link Wireless N Adapter
If you want an internal card. I'd probably go with this TP Link Wireless N150 PCI-Ex1 adapter, which, of course, requires an available PCI-Ex1 slot on your motherboard.
