I have just built a custom system and have learned some lessons. One of which is that I don't need 32GB RAM, nor can I utilize 32GB with what I do. I find that when I'm taxing the system the most, only about 12GB is being used - ergo 16GB RAM would have been the sweetspot.

So I've read about RAM disks briefly and doing things such as turning off my Windows page file. What other options do I have to take advantage of having 32GB RAM, and are the previous two suggestions worth entertaining? I understand that RAM disk utilization is highly subjective, but I'm looking for both general good practice and niche-like options.

Just leave it idle and use it one day if you need it? it's hardly an issue by having too much.

I would remove two sticks and sell it.

Unused RAM:

Run a couple of other OS's in a Virtual Machine. VirtualBox, and a Linux OS or two, just to play and learn.

Excellent response, however I only need to run one VirtualBox at a time, which would not use up a significant portion of my extra RAM.
