I have onboard sound and 5.1 and have never had sound problems before having windows 8.1

what I did:
I installed the latest REALTEK. and configured for 5.1 but the rear speakers gave no sound. (But curiously put 7.1 and rear speakers already worked)

I uninstalled the Realtek and windows searched drive alone and put the drives from microsoft and configuration appeared "5.1 rear" and "5.1 side" and give all the columns

but the sound is terrible and not to the set the speaker level. How do I put the realtek working correctly?

pls help :(

Solution
I have the same problem, but worse.
Never had problems with win 7. Now I have win 8.1 on desktop PC, AMD Cpu and Gpu, NEW PSU, 80+ certified, more than enough for my PC.
I got Pc crashes, ---Critical error Power-Kernel 41(63). Finaly after a lot of testing the audio drivers crashed my PC.

Before in Device manager I had:
-AMD high definition device
-Realteak High definition device

I uninstalled my AMD drivers and windows installs automatic High definition drivers.
Problem is still there. Random crashes, and in Audio Devices If I choose 5.1 suround My rear speakers don't work and I have insane amount of static sound. If I choose 7.1, and disable the Side speakers, all is ok, but in gaming my PC still crashes randomly.

So finaly...

So finaly yesterday, I uninstalled my High definition drivers that were installed automatic and the realteak drivers. And normaly restart. SO uninstall everything from SOUND in Device manager, AND RESTART PC.

I let win 8.1 install the generic drivers automaticaly. Then in Device Manager I have now 2 times High definition Devices.
NO REALTEAK DRIVERS.

I went in Sound devices, and now I have 2 times 5.1 suround. One with side speakers and one with rear speakers.

Everything works perfect now, super sound. Both 5.1 work ok, and till now no crashes.

Hope this help.
