internet connection randomly drops

my Windows 7 pc randomly drops internet connection from time to time, i have no idea why. sometimes it shows that it cant find my router, other times it just gives me the error triangle but can still find my router. i have tried changing the wifi card, it is also the only thing in the house that loses connection. i have also disabled ipv6 and set a static ip. the problem occurs with firewall enabled and disabled, i just don't know whats left to try

my router and modem are the same device though, will this make any difference

Does the problem only happen when using the wifi? if so, you may have another device that is using the same wifi channel that is too close to the computer, like a cordless phone etc..., try changing the channel your wifi transmits on and see if that makes a difference...

The 3 non-overlapping channels are 1, 6, and 11... so if it is currently on 1, change to 6, if it is on 6, change to 11, if it is on 11, change to 1...
