Basically, I bourght everything I needed for my new build for christmas, the specs are as followed:

intel i7 4770k
msi z87 g45 mobo
212 evo coolermaster cooler
8gb Corsair vengence ram
Corsair GS700W PSU
780gtx 3gb GPU
SharkoonT9 ATX case.

After fully assembling the rig I couldn't get it to boot which as you can imagine was frustrating. I pre tested the GPU on the computer i was replacing aswell as the PSU and Ram which was all pulled from previous rig so i knew they wern't an issue. I tested the case with my old mobo to check and again it was fine. so it all boils down to the CPU or mobo.

I tried to get it to boot with a bare bones setup with just the mobo psu cpu and cooler and 1 stick of ram. still nothing and this was out of the atx case to eliminate that being a factor.

So, anyone have any idea about any of this, my current thourght process is to return both components back to Scan and amazon and have a replacement sent out as they were literally both purchased a week before christmas. I have no idea how to test a processor or mobo without having the running so im stumped for a solution. I have tried most things i could think of to sort this problem but still nothing so only thing i can assume is one of thems DOA but no way to test. Apreciate everyones feedback thankyou.

The best thing for you to do is to return both for a replacement, however I'd recommend just sending the motherboard for replacement first, that way you can figure out what was the fault. Rather than getting both replaced at the same time.

If all else fails, you can always RMA straight to MSI and Intel, they've both got decent warranties, and as you're in the UK, all electronic goods have at least 1 year of (limited) manufacturers warranty, so don't go worrying about that. Just remember that physical damage might not be covered, but since you said you just got it, i doubt that's the case.

Thanks for the quick reply. No there isn't any physical damage what so ever i'm very careful when instaling components as these problems are exactly what I try to avoid. I even use an anti static wrist strap which I know alot of people dont even bother whith but this is just for peace of mind. Thanks for the advice I assumed this would be the best solution but avoiding having to go through return process for both items would have been nice.
