My present config is AM3 Phenom 550, Mobo MSI 880G, GPU MSI 6790, RAM Corsair Vengeance 4GB X2, 1600Mhz, Tacens Supero 500W, Cabinet Coolermaster CM690 II.

My motherboard conked out and looking at the various mobo available and my processor. I believe that if i can get a budget AMD motherboard, then all should be fine, but most of the budget board have bad reviews and i thought that my processor does not warranteed a good mobo. So, my question is should i get a new mobo only or go for a new processor-mobo config.

Socket AM3+ boards supports socket AM3 CPUs. Get a AM3+ board and, that can up upgraded to a AM3+ CPU in the future.
Budget motherboard draw bad reviews, not because it doesn't work. It's because those who buy it thought they get the same feature rich stuffs like those more expensive boards and then found it it does not or does not have that much, so that's why they get bad reviews. These reviews is more based on opinions, and not based on a person who stands from a neutral perspective.
