Hi,

I have been using Tom's Hardware for quite a while since I am building my first build. The only main component left to finish by awesome build :D is to find a good Graphics Card. The Graphics Card will be used for Gaming / Video editing (BF4,AC Black Flag, AAE, PS etc) and I will only use one monitor. I initially had a greater budget for my GPU however I overspent quite a bit on my motherboard, PSU & CPU so I will have to limit my budget to around £200 . If you think that now is the wrong time to get a GPU I can wait another month and save up a bit more and maybe push to about £300. My other components which I have already bought are:

PCPartPicker part list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2qUQP

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor (£173.94 @ Scan.co.uk)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler (£23.90 @ Ebuyer)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£149.81 @ Ebuyer)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£71.19 @ Ebuyer)
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk (£71.00 @ Amazon UK)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case (£82.09 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£69.50 @ Ebuyer)

Best Regards :D

That is a good build. I recommend this for £224.60 and with it you will be able to play Battlefield 4 on ultra:D

You might have to remove a fan from your case though. Let me look to see if i can find a shorter one

NVidia GPU's are the ones you want for video editing with programs such as Adobe After Effects and Sony Vegas. They support what's called Open CL Graphics Acceleration (cool name huh) to insure great quality image when editing your videos.

The GTX 770 is a great card at a good price for what you want.

My rule of thumb for a balanced gamer is to budget twice the cpu cost for the graphics card.
The graphics card is the most important component for a gamer.

But, for a single monitor, a GTX770 would still be very good.
That is a bit more than your budget. A GTX760 would be OK.

If you are inclined to wait and save a bit, go ahead and build using the integrated graphics
so you can buy the graphics card you really want.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies, is the GTX 780 far better than the GTX 770? Because if that's the case I am better of using integrated graphics for a month and buying a GTX 780 afterwards.

Best Regards :)

I think AMD cards are absolutely fine for editing...in fact, the graphics card isn't as much of an issue for editing, it's the cpu - I'd say save and go for an R9 290!

The GTX780 is about as good as it gets at the newer lower and more reasonable price.
If it only takes a month to manage that, and you are ok with waiting, then plan on a GTX780.

You might be fine with a GTX770, but you will always be wondering what a GTX780 would have been like.
I rarely regret spending more, but have often regretted paying less.

No. GPU acceleration is way better. Rendering a 3 min video with CPU only could take 30 min, while with GPU it would take 5min.

Get a 780.

+1. Also the AMD cards are way overpriced right now, and I have no idea when they will be dropping. Go Nvidia.

780 is £80 more money in the UK to the R9 290 in the UK - GPU acceleration may be an issue for you but it isn't on mine, I use Adobe premier and after effects and the videos render absolutely fine, I have an i7 with hyperthreading and it seems to take a lot of it up! RAM can speed up multi-tasking as well!

The Gtx 780 is £400 - will you have that in a month? :)

Yeah fantastic but you need both to work well with Multitasking etc in order to render properly, no point in trying to disprove me, my GPU works really well in rendering :L

I hate to say I told him so ;) Editing is a breeze with my 8350 and GTX 660!
