I just received a GTX 760 to upgrade my Radeon 6850. After installing the newest drivers and removing the old AMD ones (with driver cleaning software) I tried to play Assassins Creed 4. The game ran at about 10 fps on any graphics settings, from low to very high, whereas at medium with my old GPU, it ran at a good 40 fps. Skyrim is also the same, runs at about 15 - 20 fps no matter what graphics options are chosen. But it ran just fine on my older graphics card.

I have tried both the newest and beta drivers, neither of which help.
I have an AMD Phenom II X4 960T, 8GB of RAM, an MSI 970A-G45 motherboard and a Corsair CX600 PSU. I am running Windows 8.1.
I have searched high and low and can't find any solutions so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

I have now tried reinstalling Windows 7 on a new hard drive and my FPS improved for about a day, but has gone back to being poor. So I have to put it down to a hardware fault or mismatch. Is there anyone with more expertise than me that can tell me whether the issue is between the hardware I have (the motherboard and graphics card not being compatible or something) or if maybe it's just a faulty card?
