Grub rescue error... Linux not installed!

Hi all. So I have both a laptop and a desktop. I decided to go ahead and pull the SSD out of my laptop and put it in my desktop, since all I use it for is programming on Linux anyways (just ordered a 60GB HDD off ebay to replace it).

At first I tried just plugging it in, but Linux Mint was selfish and wouldn't let Windows boot even when I selected the Windows SSD from the boot menu. I disabled the new and was able to boot normally. I then formatted it using Disk Management. All seemed well. Well, I also added another 1TB HDD to my system and tried booting. Now I just get the grub rescue screen. I tried disabling all of my drives except my Windows SSD and my BIOS ignores it and instead tries booting from one of my secondaries. What?!

Sure enough, unplugging the Linux SSD fixed it. How can I remove the old boot record without using Windows? I may just throw it out my window first! I'm using the ASRock 970 Extreme4 if you need to know.

Solution
Sounds like you need a reinstall of grub. Put every thing back together and boot from Linux, hdd or USB or DVD. Install then run boot-repair. It will reinstall grub and look for the windows loader. Sometimes it takes a couple of reboots to finish.

I wish I could get my error working. I have the "Unknown filesystem grub rescue" blinking after I try installing ANY disc that I have burned that I seen on here to try. None of them work and I cant get past this black screen with the error message in the top loft corner.. I watched a utube video and seen only a part of a command to type in. So I typed what I was able to read where the blinking curser is after it says the error message and it seemed to accept the command but I couldn't read the rest that was on the video..

I typed in this so far:
set boot=(hdo,msdos5
set prefix=(

Then I cant read on what to type to complete the second command

It happens on both times. Its a 64 bit laptop and all the disc I have are 64 bit. Im gona try booting it up with out the hard drive in and then put in the hard drive and reboot it and see if it changes things. I was able to finish out the correct commands I found on the utube video I posted above and it said something like partition not found.

You should start a new thread. by putting this in a thread marked solved there are probably fewer people following. Also be specific,
I was able to finish out the correct commands I found on the utube video I posted above and it said something like partition not found.

doesn't tell us if it's when the hard drive in, out or what.
