Dell e521 a disk error occured

Ok so I have a dell e521 and am getting the "A disk read error occurred" this began to start after I fixed my no boot device detected problem. Honestly I know NOTHING about computers. please in full detail step by step please tell me how to fix this or ways to. Thanks

This appears to be a 6+ year old PC. I'd suspect a dead or dying hard drive.

So basically i should get a new hard drive if I want to continue use with it or an entirely new PC?

Aside from the possible dead drive, does it do whatever you need it to do? What do you use it for?

It is quite old, and maybe it is time to step up to something from this decade.

it would work fine except from time to time full scale freezes which I couldn't turn of except from unplugging it which I did frequently, I used it for browsing and such this started happening I unplugged it 2 days ago. Also a clicking sound always sounds when I turn it on.
