Hey guys , let me tell you my problem.Everytime I play a game at native resolution(1920 X 1080) the screen will just freeze, I need to alt tab a few seconds for it to go back to normal, only to get another freeze 5 seconds into the game.I recently upgraded my computer to a R9 280 OC and have a 850 W PSU so I don't think that's the problem,I also tested the Ram 7 times and everything was perfect using memtest,I have windows 8.1.The thing is, I can run them just fine at a lower resolution, but if I try to change it, I get stutters and everything will collapse, please could you give me a hand?I'm seriously thinking about ending my own life with the mouse's cord.Thank you!

Due to the fact that you've had 2 cards do the same thing, I'd say the issue is with your ram, motherboard or the OS.

Try your cards in a friend's system. I bet they're fine and will work.

If it were my system next steps would be:

1. Make sure the BIOS on the board is up to date.

3. Swap...

If you still have your old card, try popping that in and see if you get the same issues.

I'm not trying to bad mouth AMD, but I had really weird stuff happen with my last one and I haven't gone back since.

You say you've tested the RAM, did you also test the card's Ram? It sounds like it's similar to what I was getting and the only thing that fixed it was a new card.

Here's a link from stack exchange with a solved answer on it:

http://superuser.com/questions/456435/how-can-i-test-my-gpu-memory-ram

Scroll down to the answer and check out the software used to test your GPU ram.

Just a heads up though, I've had RAM in the past test good, but still actually be faulty, they aren't always reliable tests.

The best test would be to try a different card if possible, or try your card in a different system.

I just Benchmarked using the Heaven engine and I got 40 Fps average and a score of 1081.I don't have a floppy, so I used this instead. The thing is, the benchmark run smoothly.

Go to this link: http://mikelab.kiev.ua/index_en.php?page=PROGRAMS/vmt_en

Above the screenshot there's a link to download the non floppy version, you can try that.

What game are you playing? Does it happen in all games?

When you say you change the resolution, is that in game or in the O/S?

I didn't mention drivers earlier because I assumed you had already tried that but, I'll ask now, have you done a clean driver install for that card?

Try another card if you have access to one and see what happens.

WHen I change the resolution in game, I will be able to play for a few minutes but then I will inevitably crash again. If it helps you, I was using the card (GTX 660 ti) before and I had appcrashes all the time, but as I said..I have tested the ram almost 10 times.I'm still testing the video ram and no errors found so far.Other than that, I'm able to browse the internet with no problems.

If it were my system next steps would be:

1. Make sure the BIOS on the board is up to date.

3. Swap in different RAM, I know you tested it but the tests aren't always accurate. If you can't get a hold of known good ram, just ask a buddy if you could pop your ram into their system and try playing a game and see what happens. If your ram works in another system, then it's your install of windows that is buggered up, or the motherboard.

2. If you can eliminate the ram as the issue, reinstall windows.

3. If that doesn't fix it, it's likely the mobo.

Bottom line is that there's no better test of hardware than trying it in something else.

Quick question, what's your system specs? If they're in your sig I can't see them for some reason. Are you over clocking your Cpu? If so have you ran prime95 to see if the Cpu can handle it?

Okay..let's check our patient.
Bios:I just updated it and I keep getting the same freezes so nope, the problem is not within the BIOS
Graphic cards:I sold it yesterday, but I will contact the guy to see if he has any trouble with it, but I highly doubt it's the cards fault
OS:I did a fresh reinstall of Windows 8.1 when I bought the card

So that leaves us with the Ram issue, and no, I'm not overclocking anything.I suspect it's the RAM, I will try to get a hold of a pair of sticks once I come back from my holidays(I leave next monday for two weeks)but once I come back I will do it.My specs are

R9 280 X OC version sapphire
I5 3570
Sentey 850 W extreme power
6 GB DDR3 1033 kingston
2 TB SATA HDD
