Will i lose all my data if i upgrade my motherboard?

I have a Gigabyte m68mt-s2 3.1 motherboard and i want to upgrade my cpu to the fx 8350 (do i need to upgrade or does my motherboard already support it) and i want to know that if i upgrade, do i lose anything. Do i have to backup?

  1. That motherboard does not support FX-8350 CPU. You will need to upgrade it. And all the data is stored in your HDD or SSD so it will no get lost. But you will need to do a fresh install of your Windows, so backup your important files, pictures...

    So basically im going to have to re-install all my programs, files etc. Basically like starting a new computer, so i keep nothing from before?
