I have an i3-330m processor; what i5 would be compatible replacement?
Sorry to say but the cpu in a laptop cannot be replaced as it is soldered to the motherboard. Replacing it would require you to replace the whole motherboard.
So if you need more CPU horsepower your best bet is to get a new laptop.
the Cpu comes out just fine no heat needed its not taking it out that's hard with the right knowledge and know how its simple but the hard part is finding a Cpu the motherboard will actually support
if you could come over my house i would show you i own a Toshiba Satellite a505 s6005 i have taken it apart and pulled out my i3 dual core i have put in a i7 quad core it didnt boot up then put my i3 back in locked it down with the flat head switch and put it back together everyone keeps saying its soldered in and its not my wife's is soldered in its a hp

Do you think it wouldn't boot because you jumped two steps from an i3 to an i7? Have you ever tried the i5?
Maybe that one isn't soldered, doesn't mean it doesn't have a locked BIOS or specific max TDP. You cannot guarantee a new CPU will work, and it likely won't.
