Is the R9 270 worth it?

Hey guys!
I'm upgrading my PC because my Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 (paired with an intel core i3-2120) can't seem to handle the latest game at high settings. Let's say it can run games like Far Cry 3 at high but I fear for the next-gen games that will come out in the next months.
I don't overclock and probably never will (and forget about sli/crossfire). I play lots of games but anything really. I'll buy an i5-3570 too and I know it will not be bottlenecked by such gpu (R9 270).

I've looked at a comparison between my old gpu and this one : http://www.hwcompare.com/16620/radeon-hd-6870-vs-radeon...
and it seems a lot better. My budget is 200-250$ but I don't really like the GTX 760.

Is it worth the upgrade for the upcoming games? Should I wait? Or should I pick something better?
Thank you for your time!

I would wait for those upcoming games to be released and benchmarked. Then you'll know exactly what kind of graphics card you need for them. Prices will drop too. If you current card can play your current games well, keep using it.

The AMD 270 is only very slightly weaker than an AMD 270x.
With 1 of my AMD 270x's i can run Battlefield 4 on ultra with no AA @ 1920x1080 with 55 to 60 frames per second.

I believe you will see a big performance increase over your 6870.
The AMD 270 will also be Mantle capable which your 6870 isn't.

Well considering how the r9 270x can handle some of the newer games quite well like bf4 you should get it. I got it on ultra 1920x1080p ultra no aa and at a steady 65-70fps. Also AMD will be releasing their new mantle API soon which will provide significant performance increases than their directX nvidia counterparts. We're not talking a 5 fps increase we're talking at least 20%.
