Here is my build:

GB 990FXA-UD3
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800)
AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition
Corsair Carbide Series Black 500R
SLi Gigabyte 660ti
Corsair Professional Series HX 750 Watt

I bought a cooler master hyper T4 and it does not fit due to the high profile of the RAM. I put the ram in the farthest slots over too, still does not have clearance. Right now im on stock cooling but I was planning on overclocking this CPU to be on par with the 9 series. I was going to liquid cool with a Corsair Hydro Series H50 Quiet Edition Water / Liquid CPU Cooler but kind of talked myself out of it.

any suggestions on a cooler that isnt so wide? I would have no problem if it mounted the other way but the way my board is setup it makes no sense why they have the RAM slots so close to the CPU...

i tried just putting it in without the fan and the heatsink still wont go down with the RAM in the way. Im wondering if the 212 evo would be slightly slimmer profile wise. it literally is like a few mm

this isnt my build but this is how its setup so you can have an idea:

Wait, how can I turn it sideways? The brackets only go in one way right? If I turn the cooler sideways, the tension bar doesn't have anything to latch to

this review of both the T4 and 212 show that the 212 is not as wide. The author states that you cant install the T4 if you have high profile ram. I wish i would have seen this before I bought the cooler, how the heck can anyone install it with hi pro ram? I am still trying to figure out how you can turn the heatsink 90 degrees and still be able to mount it to the bracket....
