I made an account here just to ask this question, and will try to help people here if I have the knowledge of it. I just built a gaming PC this Christmas, but its not running as fast as I had thought. I get under 15fps in Batman Arkham Origins, 5-10fps in Assassins Creed: Black Flag. My specs are..
Motherboard: MSI Z87-GD65
GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 770
CPU: Intel i5 4670k
Memory: Kingston HyperX blu memory - 4 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 (X1, I think this may be the problem, I ran out to bestbuy to get ram so that I could install the OS but decided to leave it.)
PSU: 600W Thermaltake

I feel like it may be that this gpu in my mobo is being used; its called Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. But NVIDIA Geforce recognizes my gpu as GTX 770 so I think my gpu is recognized. I've been saving up for 2 years on this build, and its my first. Please help me, and thank you in advance!

Also, here it says I am able to max this out with Nvidia's features...

But I run these games at their lower settings and get low fps. The only thing I have maxed out are textures. Everything else is either off, or on normal.

you could have v-sync enabled. It limits your fps to stop screen tearing. Remember to turn it off in nvidia control panel and in game (just let geforce experience optimize your game) :)

Thanks, but I've tried that. My FPS is too low when Geforce Experience optimizes it for me. Although I took my gpu out, and got the same FPS on Batman. Geforce Experience recognized that my gpu wasnt in so it limited me. Also I've been unable to use Shadowplay, so I don't think my PC is actually using my gpu. Besides this I am clueless and I really need help. Do you know why its doing this?

You could check the bios to see if your settings are to the integrated or to the actual card. I'm not sure if it would pop up with a picture or detect your 770 if it were. Never hurts to try and double check I guess.

Sorry i'm not an expert but it could maybe be your psu that doesn't deliver the requirements. The gtx 770 requires 600w with minimum 42 amps in the 12v rail. Could maybe be that

How do I set primary gpu? I turned off integrated graphics but that did nothing.

It should be pcie settings or something along those lines. You'd have to explore your bios settings.

It could also be what evgalover is saying. Not having the proper feed to the graphics card could be the problem.

Don't you have a vga - dvi connector or something? I would highly recommend getting a screen with dvi / hdmi with your gtx 770

Ya... I am getting a DVI cable though to plug into my card->monitor. I'm gonna look through the BIOS and update it, any other suggestions if that fails?

well i havent experienced any failing in updating your bios yet. Just find your latest bios update for your motherboard, download it, flash or over on an external drive, go into your bios menu, click update bios and use the external drive for that (im speaking from a gigabyte motherboard point of view)

Hmmm well, I have this problem. My PC wont display unless I boot with a IGD (Integreated Graphics Device?? Anyone? But I cant select the other one (Forget the name) without it not displaying.

Go into your UEFI/BIOS and set your primary graphics adapter to PEG

An insufficient PSU usually results in shutdowns and general instability, what's the model of your PSU?

A BIOS update should be your last resort, especially if you have no experience with that

I think its my power then, but the fan on my GPU still spins. I will plug my GPU into a seperate PSU and see how it fairs. Thanks, now I believe that its the PSU since I cant use PEG.

My PSU Thermaltake TR2 600W

Your PSU is sufficient for a GTX 770, it shouldn't be the problem

How come you can't set it to PEG? if the video cable is plugged into your GPU it should be fine

I dont have it plugged in because I didnt get a DVI cable yet. Will this fix this problem?
ALSO... How does Gefore Experience recognizes it in my system, and device manager as well, when my PC performs FPS/wise the same as it would with my GPU out of my PC?

So you have a VGA cable plugged into your motherboard? that would explain it since that would be running the HD 4600

You have the Nvidia Drivers installed so that's why your system recognizes your card, you're not actually running off it if you're plugged into the motherboard

Oh thanks! I'll tell you if it works when I get the cable. Thank you everyone, I hope this works! But dang this HD 4600 runs faster than my laptop! This also explains why I can't use Shadowplay!

Your card should have come with a DVI to VGA adapter if I'm not mistaken, that would work with the card

Sadly, no. It came with a power cable adapter which I didn't need though. I was going to end up using DVI anyway since it is Digital as well as Analog. Is there a big difference between the two? (VGA & DVI)

As far as I know, DVI outputs a clearer image, it's well worth having in this day and age

Also are my specs good? What type of FPS should I be getting? I play games like Skyrim, Battlefield, Batman Arkham Origins, and Assassins Creed Black Flag and I want to try Shadowplay for Youtube. Is my GPU going to give a better experience then that HD 4600 by a lot?

Haha without a doubt, you should have no problem playing those games at Ultra settings well above 60FPS besides Crysis 3

The 4670K is the gaming CPU of choice and is well overclockable with your Z87 board

I personally think you should have went with a better 80+ bronze rated PSU instead of your current one, but it'll get the job done

The HD 4600 is many times weaker by comparison

They offer better efficiency and longevity (quality of the capacitors and components inside etc.). Crysis 3 doesn't run well maxed on most systems so you'd need to tweak it a little for it to run well

Will this PSU harm my components, and which PSU do you recommend for my build?

It won't harm it, Thermaltake is makes alright PSUs

If you can return it then you could get an XFX 650W 80+ Bronze rated unit for example

Its all good! Getting 60fps in AC Black Flag, max settings, while using shadowplay! Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the help! I chose rolandz's answer since he was the most specific to me. I didn't understand what you meant, bishopi5. Anyways thanks. I am playing awesomely now. All I need now is more RAM and a better power supply.
