I have a WD 1tb my passport and I recently reformatted to fat32 and then reformatted back to ntfs after i was done with the fat32. Now however I have extremely slow write speeds (max of 4 mbs). I have checked this number with hd tune. Is there anything I can do to fix the speeds?

What OS, power supply unit (PSU), internal HDD and motherboard (MB) u are using?.....Is your WD an USB3.0?
However, try to use your WD on a different computer and see if runs fine.....if run fine then u have some problems with USB power ....either the PSU, MB

I suggest you make sure you have good installs of the latest drivers for your USB 3.0. I had a lot of trouble at first with reliability on 3.0. Uninstall the old drivers and reboot, then try a clean installation of the latest drivers. I think you could probably get better performance, depending on the particular model of Passport you have.

Make sure you have a good cable, and use only as long a cable as you need. Connect to a 'rear of the motherboard' USB 3.0 port. This should avoid power problems as much as possible.

Could still really use some help, I error checked the drive (there were no errors) I also plugged in a different flash drive and it had regular fast speeds. What can I do? Should I just toss the HD?
