Need a new AMD processor upgrade for gaming. Suggestions?

I currently use the AMD Phenom II x6 1050T (2.8 Ghz). I purchased a new video card so I could play Battlefield 4 & Day Z. Though I see a great upgrade in performance with my new card (I was using the 5770 previously) I do notice in DayZ that my game suffers a bit. After reading around, I heard the game is really CPU intensive, and that it only uses 4 cores, so it's best to have quality 4 core processor than 6-8 lower quality ones.

I'm not to hardware knowledgeable, thus I am hoping one of you could suggest my best bet with a budget of 150-200$. My motherboard is the following:

I was thinking of maybe http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681... as an upgrade? Would this one work on my motherboard? Would I see a significant upgrade?

Thanks so much for your tips!

The A10 has a different socket compared to the motherboard you currently have. I'd say look more toward one of the FX series chips. Look at maybe the FX 6300 or 8320. You probably will need to update the bios.

if you don't go for a faster cpu 8000 series.......... don't spend your money. they are more sideways upgrades than anything.

the6300/980/975 listed are all dogs and are sideways upgrades over the 8k.......... or intel cpus.............. good suggestion above about BIOS check........... and board compatibility.

WHAT GPU ARE YOU USING?

The best thing for that board would be the Phenom II x6 Black edition. It should be unlocked so you can overclock it as well.

Hey, I'm using a Geforce 760 GTX. Got it for cheap off a buddy of mine.

Would my best bet be getting a new motherboard & CPU? If so, any suggestions for MOBO's that aren't super expensive??

all the amd processors listed are not worth the money except for the 8 series. and that's only if your board supports it. used up several of these cpu's already. none any faster than the other.

That processor is a different socket. It will not work in your board. It would be a sideways to downgrade swap
According to the website the best processor supported by your board is the X6 1100t, which are almost impossible to find now.
Have you considered overclocking? A $40 dollar heat sink would allow you to overclock your chip in the 3.4ghz to 4ghz range.
